The Sky's the Limit

What could be more fun than designing the bedroom you wish you had when you were a kid? The sky’s the limit when it comes to children’s rooms, and it’s easy to bring out your child’s personality with effective use of colours, textiles and furnishings. Take inspiration from some of our favourite renovators, and create a bedroom your child will never want to leave.

KYAL AND KARA

Fan favourites from the Block, Kyal and Kara have become renovation moguls, working on their own home as well as designing for others. Their kids’ rooms tend to have a coastal vibe, with muted palettes and rustic touches. Their use of wallpaper and art is super effective, whether it’s panelling and pennants in a bedroom or a playful shell print in a toy room. They strike a perfect balance - children have plenty of room to explore while their parents can appreciate the design.

HUTCHINSON HOUSE

Maddy Evennett of Hutchinson House has created a heavenly little haven for her daughter Florence. Light and bright, and filled with pinks and neutrals, this bedroom is the perfect place to unwind. The window seat provides a nook for reading, and is surrounded by floor to ceiling shelving for easy and storage of toys and books. Our Ascot Knobs in brass are a perfect match for the sage green chest of drawers, a lovely pop of colour against the softer beige leaf print wallpaper.

The renovation queens at Three Birds have mastered the art of bedroom design, with nine children between them! Their lucky kids get to experience the best of both worlds in their beautiful and seriously fun bedrooms. A rock climbing wall, chairs swinging from the ceiling, a sculptural bunk bed- nothing is off limits for the Three Birds gang. And when the kids are all tired out from a day of play, it’s time to relax into some lush, textural linens.
