With ever-changing design trends and evolving interior designers all over the world, the design market is booming and filled with unique one-of-a-kind projects. Whilst new trends are making their way into the market, several Interior Designers are leading the way in driving these trends. The passion and vision behind their projects can be a great inspiration-point for those aspiring to renovate, style or enhance their space. Below we have narrowed down a list of our top 11 designers we think everyone should be following and some of their most iconic projects.
Alexander &Co. is one of Australia’s leading designers. Their talented team of Interior Designers, Architects and Furniture makers showcase timeless and unique spaces across all their projects, with a focus on using organic materials. We love how the Bondi Junction House project accentuates the beauty of infrastructure. The tonal colours throughout the design complement the organic wood and beautiful grey marble that pours throughout the entire home.

Claire Del Mar’s natural flair for design stems from her adaptable style based on client's individual needs rather than current trends. Her style goes beyond just visuals and decorative pieces. Her appreciation of natural light, environment and architecture is her take on what truly completes the space and determines the overall feeling of a project. Have a look at how Claire enhances the space in her Heritage Waterfront cottage project. We love how her contrast of muted toned roofing and rugs, makes the orange tones pop in the room.

Tamsin Johnson’s work is an instant sigh of relief. Her work tends to evoke feelings of calm and create an effortlessly cozy and aesthetically pleasing space. What makes Tamsin’s style so exceptional is her incorporation and love for European-inspired décor and antique pieces. The way Tamsin blends antique pieces with modern concepts so naturally is what we admire most.

Arent&Pyke know exactly how to bring a space to life. It’s safe to say that Arent&Pyke stand out in the market by always going beyond the primary colour palette. Arent&Pyke are trendsetters in the design market by bringing back the trends we love from recent decades. Their Garden House project speaks to us, with the contrast of different textures and bold colourways highlighting every detail of the home. Our favourite feature of this project is the forest green terrazzo flooring which pours throughout the house and how it perfectly complements the curved doorways and extended ceilings.

Flack Studio has always thought outside the box and their approach to taking design risks is exactly what makes them so iconic. Flack combines mid-century décor with a range of textures and bold colours to create unique yet inviting spaces. We absolutely love what Flack has done with Australian Icon, Troye Sivan’s Melbourne home. Its beauty lies within the modernised but comforting aesthetic this industrial space gives off. The décor is a mix of vintage and contemporary with a European twist—chefs kiss!

Handlesmann and Khaw are the perfect duo for bringing character into a space. The combination of their individual style creates spaces filled with rich colours, textures and unique fixtures. All the elements and materials they use that tie together each project beautifully, showcase their expertise in the field. We love how they never fail to go beyond the ordinary to create such beautiful spaces, just like the bathroom in their Woollahra Harbour View House project. We are digging this remarkable blue marble against the leafy green wallpaper.

Sydney-based designers Akin Atelier are recognised for their artistic and collaborative projects with commercial, retail and hospitality groups. Akin Atelier knows how to perfect large-scale projects by making statements in all their work. We particularly love what they have done with Bert’s restaurant, one of the top restaurants from the famous Merivale group. The elegance of Bert’s is simply divine, and it begins with the heavenly fit-out. The way that Akin’s design allows for natural light to fill the space and bounce off the Carrara Marble tiles and marble flooring is what makes it so special. Bravo Akin!
